Saltcoats Rotarians get down to business

  • Members were urged to do their bit for the Rotary Foundation at the meeting of Ardrossan and Saltcoats Rotary
In the absence of a speaker the meeting of Ardrossan and Saltcoats Rotary Club on Thursday 25th February was again devoted to business matters with past-president Ian Blair in the chair.

Members were pleased to learn that President-elect Archie MacIntyre was now home and doing well after his recent surgery in Crosshouse Hospital.

Past-president Ian again spoke to the club about the latest initiative by District to encourage members to support Rotary Foundation by covenanting by direct debit on an annual basis and urged members to give the matter serious consideration.

Donnie Shedden reported on the Glasgow versus Ayrshire annual curling match which resulted in a narrow win for Glasgow. We still awaited the challenge from Eastwood club in the Friendship Trophy. He then reported on final arrangements for the Race Night on the 26th in Ardrossan Indoor Bowling Club. Ticket sales were promising although there had been little response from our neighbouring clubs.

All horses had been sold and all of the races were sponsored. Members were again reminded about prizes for the raffle. As past-president Ian Blair is otherwise engaged next week it was agreed that Stewart Mackay would take the chair when Iain McFadyen will be the speaker
