Saltcoats has a long and proud history, Here are just some of the major dates in the history of the town.

1528 - Saltcoats receives Burgh status

1686 - Saltcoats Quay opens

1751 - First Saltcoats school opened - closed 1877

1772 - Two mile canal built to Stevenston coalfields for coal exportation

1908 - New Parish Church opened

1911 - Saltcoats Victoria FC founded

1924 - Sea wall constructed

1958 - Saltcoats Museum opens in old Parish church building
